What determines success in reaching your goals? According to Keith Ferrazzi, it's clear goals, accountability and a support system. The main focus of the book is on developing a board of advisors who can help you succeed. Keith goes into detail on what characteristics to look for in your advisors. A lot of his suggestions are common sense, but it's helpful to have specifics.
I wanted to like this book, I really did. I enjoyed Keith's first book, "Never Eat Alone," and practice many of the tactics he describes in that book. Keith's personality comes through in this book, so he is definitely following his own advice.
The helpful points in the book:
**don't try to do it alone - having a trusted board of advisors can really help you succeed.
**be authentic - you'll more easily gain others' trust.
**while there's nothing new or earth-shattering about Keith's advice, it's helpful to read about it from his perspective.
**Section 4: Make it your life. His tactical advice was good and certainly doable. He didn't do any of the annoying name dropping he did in other sections. He also didn't bring in stories from his own life. Maybe that's why I liked it.
The not-so-helpful points in the book:
**Keith is a little too real, in my opinion. His attempt to be sincere falls flat. How many times do we have to read about Keith's humble beginnings.
**the real-life examples came across as more name-dropping than sincere.
Overall, an interesting read with some helpful advice. I believe there are other, more helpful and less annoying books on personal success.
